ERIK MARENČE

Is recognised as an outstanding pianist, accompanist, composer and educator, performing regularly with many leading singers and instrumentalists in concerts, broadcasts and recordings throughout Europe. According to the Slovenian magazine, Reporter, Erik is “one of the most self sufficient and, by his way of playing, atypical pianist”.

In the year 2004 he finished master degree at High School for Music and Dance in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

From 2001 until 2004 he was one of the organizers of weekly jam sessions at Jazz Cafe Dizzy, where he played with many well known Dutch artists: Benjamin Herman, Ben van den Dungen, Dik de Graaf, Michael Varenkamp, Ciril Osvald, Hans van Osterhout, Marcel Reis, Louk Boudestain, Rik Mol, Rob van de Wouw, Shirma Rouse, Johnny Tevreden, Pim Dros, Eelco van de Meeberg. He also played with some other well known artists such as: Owen Heart, Adonis Rose, Adam Nussbaum, Rony Kruger, Andy Middletone, Eric Vloeimans, Miles Griffith, Judy Niemack.

In the year 2000 he won second award at Erasmus Jazz Prize, in 2001 second award at Euro stream Jazz Prize, 2004 first award for best Slovene composition prize - Jazzon.

After he finished studies in the Netherlands, came back to Slovenia and now playing with famous musicians like: The Fool Cool Orchestra, Jani Moder Quartet, Lovro Ravbar Quartet, Binho Carvalho Band, Maja Savič Trio, Gašper Bertoncelj Quartet, Blaž Trček Quartet, Vesna Zornik Tango Project, London and many more.
